Godello · Alan de Val
The white that put Valdeorras on the map — and one of Galicia's great secrets. Godello is Galicia's answer to a serious white: mineral, structured, nothing like the easy stereotype of Spanish whites.
100% Godello from the family's own vines in A Rúa, fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel. Bright lemon-yellow with green flashes. The nose is intense and elegant — ripe white fruit, fresh citrus, aromatic herbs and white flowers. Mineral and long on the palate, with the tension that only Godello grown on these slate-and-granite soils can give.
A multiple gold-medal winner and 91 points in Guía Peñín. Drink it and you'll understand why Godello is having a moment.
Serve at 8–10°C — cool, but not ice-cold, or you'll lose the aromatics. Perfect with seafood, grilled fish, rice dishes, sushi or fresh cheese.
