Bodegas Dimobe winemaker

Bodegas Dimobe: Family-Run Since 1927, Viticultura Heroica in Axarquia

First up in our Meet Our Suppliers series: a winery that's been in the same family for four generations, on slopes so steep the harvest still has to be done entirely by hand.

Viticultura Heroica in Malaga since 1927.

Bodegas Dimobe sits in the little village of Moclinejo, in the hills of the Axarquía east of Málaga. It started in 1927 with five second-hand American oak casks and an old beam press and four generations later, the same family is still making wine there.

What makes it special is the land. Their Moscatel de Alejandría vines  some close to a hundred years old  cling to slate slopes so steep that everything has to be picked by hand. In Málaga they call it viticultura heroica: heroic farming. You can taste that effort in every bottle.

From bright, fresh young Moscatel to sweet wines aged twenty years in century-old casks, Dimobe is one of the most awarded wineries in Málaga and the perfect place to start rediscovering what southern Spain can really do.
