From washing dishes to choosing wines

We're Nicolás and Jose, two friends from Málaga who spent four years in Amsterdam building — hour by hour — a project to give Spanish wine the place it deserves.

Where it began

We grew up in Málaga, around family gatherings where wine was always on the table. Not as a luxury — as the thing that brings people together when there's something worth celebrating. A glass raised among the people you love. That's our first memory of wine, and it never left us.

Art, tradition, the food of our land — we carry all of it with us. So four years ago, when we packed our bags and moved to the Netherlands, one idea followed us across the continent: to bring a piece of home to our new city.

The road here

Like most people who emigrate, we started at the very bottom. Washing dishes. From there, shift by shift, we worked our way up through every corner of a restaurant — runner, section runner, kitchen, floor, and finally managing the room. We've done the hours in every part of hospitality, and we've done them far from home.

There were no shortcuts. Just long shifts and the drive to build something of our own. Everything we have today is made of those hours.

Why The Wine Hustle

Working in hospitality, we saw it clearly: outside Spain, our wine is almost always told the same way — the same few names, and little else. And Spain is so much more than that.

So in 2024 we turned all those hours into something ours. The Wine Hustle was born with one mission: to celebrate, champion and give Spanish wine the place it deserves — in every one of its forms. We import straight from the regions that best tell where we come from: Málaga, Rioja, Galicia, Toro, Ribera del Duero, and soon Catalonia — alongside the olive oil that completes our table.

What's in every bottle

Every bottle is a piece of our land, bottled — a little of its history, its culture and its taste. It's the bridge between the soil that raised us and the city we now call home. Our job is to make sure it reaches your table whole.
